#BabyBump Tips in Kenya

For first-time mums, the journey through pregnancy is normally filled with worry and uncertainty as you wait to receive your bundle of joy.

And one of the things a lot of women often wonder about is how to stock the baby bag.

You are probably wondering what the baby bag is. Well, the baby bag is the one bag you need to have with you when #labour starts.

It has all your supplies and no matter where you are or what you are doing, you are always ready to go to the hospital when it's time.
If you are a stay-at-home mum you probably need a single bag that you can walk around with whenever you leave the house but for the working woman, it is advisable to have at least two bags. The main bag at home and one at the office in case your baby decides to make an early exit.

So, what exactly should be in your baby bag?

A #leso or #shuka
In case you don’t know, once you get to the hospital you won’t be allowed to stay in your tight trousers or long dresses. A shuka or leso is the easiest way for you to walk around while you labour and also it makes it easy for the medics to check the baby’s progress as you wait for time.

Source of #entertainment
It’s not given that the baby will pop right out the moment you get to the hospital. For the lucky ladies it can take only a few hours but for some this wait can go on for days. So you need to have your phone with you if the internet is your drug or a book if you don’t want any distractions.

How to organize the best #genderreveal party in #K How to organize the best #genderreveal party in #Kenya

In the recent past gender reveals parties have been gaining popularity with more and more Kenyans embracing this age-old tradition.

While some couples like to keep things low-key and wait for the big reveal on D-day others prefer knowing the sex early on, organising gender reveal parties and shopping in advance.
If you fall in the latter category, here is how to organise the perfect gender reveal party:

Plan for an obstetric ultrasound
First things first, don’t forget to go for your sonogram between 19 to 20 weeks of pregnancy. Doctors recommend this period for you to get the correct reading and gender.

Additionally, it will make the whole planning process more fun and smooth if you are sure of the gender. In case you want a surprise, ensure you bring the party planner with you to the scheduled sonogram.

Set a date
How far along would you like the party? A month to your D-day? Weeks? Hours? When it comes to organising a party you need to work with a deadline.

Securing a date in advance will also help you send the invitations early enough to give your friends and family humble time to plan for and attend your party.

Have a theme
This is where the fun part begins, the theme. Most people like to keep it simple with the usual pink for girls and blue for boys but if it’s a surprise then the invited guests and theme colour should be completely different to throw everyone away from the scent.
Other than colour also focus on the type of party you want. Are you a cocktail type of girl or a simple tea party would do?

For #Kenyan Moms: Best #Foods to Eat While #Pregna For #Kenyan Moms: Best #Foods to Eat While #Pregnant

There is no other time in your life you will snack than when you are pregnant and why not? You are after all bringing life into this world.

With pregnancy comes a lot of cravings and in most cases, they are never the healthy ones. No matter how hard you try to keep your meals healthy, every now and then you will give in to the want to eat that bar of chocolate or bottle of #soda.

However, this doesn’t always have to be the case, you can snack however much you want and still keep it healthy.

Here are the best foods to eat while pregnant and readily available in #Kenya:

#Eggs

As cliché as this may sound, eggs are actually an amazing food to eat during pregnancy. They are rich in many nutrients and minerals, especially choline which is vital for the development of the baby’s brain and spine.

So the next time you feel a little hungry, how about you fry up an egg or do a ‘boilo’?

#Avocados

They say avocados can be paired with almost any food and during pregnancy, it should be your daily creed.

Other than the usual nutrients like Vitamin B, C and A available in avocados, they are also rich in potassium which will help relieve leg cramps.

#Dairy products

This is the time to stock up on milk, your favourite #yoghurts and if possible cheese. Your baby will need all the extra protein and calcium to develop.

If you are lactose intolerant, you could try some probiotic yoghurt but after consulting your doctor of course.

Sweet potatoes

You have probably heard this before; eat your sweet potatoes, they are the healthy choice. Yes, potatoes are rich in nutrients like Vitamin A and fibre that helps to reduce blood sugar spikes and improves your digestive health.

And the best thing about sweet potatoes is that you can prepare them in a hundred different ways like frying them, steaming, boiling, mashing, whatever you prefer.

Legumes

Imagine if you could get all the supplements you need in your food? Well, this is where legumes come in. They are rich in nutrients like iron, folate, fibre, protein, iron and even calcium all necessary for a baby’s growth.
